Utah Moab Wedding

There’s nothing more special than a gathering with your closest friends and family. This is why I will always advocate for smaller weddings, or in other words, micro weddings. Last fall I did the florals for a destination Utah Moab wedding, and it was an experience I’ll never forget.

Nina and Jake flew in from halfway across the country for their destination micro wedding with Utah’s stunning red rocks as their backdrop. With 30 of their closest friends, they were able to focus on creating meaningful experiences in the beautiful Moab desert. Their small party size allowed them the chance to relax and choose intentional and meaningful activities to help them enjoy their wedding weekend together.

Working With a Planner

Planning a destination wedding can be daunting, especially because you’re not working with vendors from your area. This is why I suggest hiring a wedding planner to smooth things over and help you find the perfect vendors. Nina and Jake hired JayLynn with Weddings by Jay, and she helped plan each detail and worked with each of the many vendors. These vendors included the photographer, videographer, HMUA, bartender, rentals, cake, catering and florist, not to mention coordinating with the venue. With JayLynn guiding us, our vendor team was able to bring all of the details together and create luxury in the desert. It was an honor to be a vendor for this wedding.

While theirs was a destination wedding, the theme was still luxurious. The ceremony itself took place in Arches national park with stunning red rocks as their backdrop. The wedding party then returned to Under Canvas Moab where an intimate dinner took place. An intimate tablescape filled with lush florals allowed friends and family to create unforgettable memories in this stunning setting.

Tablescape Design

While initially planning out the floral details for this wedding, I had several conversations with the bride where we talked about the overall environment and look we wanted to create with the florals. She wanted to create a lush tablescope that popped against the red rock background.

One of the main things I talked about with Nina was creating a lush floral tablescape that would enhance the setting for their intimate gathering. We wanted to create a showstopping scene. As the main table decor, we needed the flowers to be a huge part of this. To create this lush tablescape, we decided to evenly space centerpieces throughout the tables, with smaller ikebana arrangements in between them. We also decided to include candles to elevate the overall look and make the setting more visually interesting.  The different textures and heights that this mix of arrangements created made for a visually interesting tablescape. But this mixture of arrangements wouldn’t have looked nearly as good if we’d gone with a different color palette.

One of the biggest things the bride and I focused on as we planned out the florals was color. We had initially talked about going with a muted fall color palette. But the bride and I decided it would be better to go with vibrant, brighter colors that would pop against the rocks. I’m so glad we made that change! The flowers could not have been more stunning in that setting.

Utah Moab Wedding

Moab was the perfect setting for this destination micro wedding. With careful planning involving the couple, the wedding planner, and various vendors, we created a magical setting that made for a perfect day. If you’re looking for a gorgeous destination wedding location, I highly recommend holding an intimate wedding in Moab. And of course I would love to be your florist!
